McLaren 765LT is the most extreme representative of this family. It was created on the basis of the 720 model. Both belong to the McLaren Super Series. What was the idea for the modifications? In a nutshell: lighter, faster and more expensive. Everything to make it more fun on the track.

Long Tail

The McLaren 765LT is the newest addition to a series of lettered track toys that derive from the words “Long Tail”. The name comes from the modification of the first historical F1 GTR model. The protoplasty body of the species has been extended for better aerodynamic properties. For new models with the letters LT, the overall length does not necessarily change. The purpose of the modification is to improve the aerodynamic downforce while driving. Therefore, the maximum speed of the 765LT model is slightly lower than the 720. But it is supposed to provide much better times for the race tracks.

In the case of the 765LT model, stronger means 765 HP instead of 720 HP, and lighter – weight reduction by another 176.3 pounds, to less than 747.3 pounds. Such a combination of course guarantees excellent performance, but they do not fully reflect the experience it is supposed to provide while driving.

Spreads its wings like a falcon

Acceleration to 62 mph (100 kph) is 2.8 seconds, top speed is 205 mph (330 kph). These are impressive parameters, especially when it comes to a rear-wheel drive car that has to rely solely on the grip of the rear tires to start.

Acceleration to 124.2mph (200 kph) takes him 7.2 s, the first 0,24 miles from a standing start is also covered in 10 seconds, but the most fun is to be on the track.

In order to reduce the curb weight of the already light car, it is not equipped with an audio system and air conditioning (both can be ordered as an option) and although it is hard to believe, each of the front seats weighs only  6,61 pounds! They are comfortable, but not as comfortable as in the road 720 model. Still, they are equipped with inertial seat belts. The centrally located engine marked M840T achieves a power of 765 HP, which is the minimum guaranteed by the manufacturer. In fact, the maximum power of individual engines may be closer to 800 hp.

The same is the nominal torque. Eight hundred Newton meters are transferred to the rear axle via a sequential 7-speed dog gearbox without synchronizers. Its design comes from racing cars, and the materials used in F1 cars were used.

The newest McLaren 765LT also uses elements from the exclusive Senna model. These include a three-layer cylinder head gasket and an optional brake system with ceramic discs. Twin scroll turbochargers with electric assistance are responsible for minimizing the delay in adding gas.

The titanium exhaust system lowers the curb weight and improves the sound, and the ultra-light alloy wheels are bolted with titanium alloy bolts. Every aspect of the car’s design shows a maniacal drive to reduce weight and improve handling.

The minimalist interior of the McLaren 765LT is the most impressive. Everything in it is subordinate to the driver and nothing distracts him. The cabin of the new model looks like a modern technological sculpture. A special window is placed in the cover of the drive unit, thanks to which we can check the engine in this model at any time.

Not too much, but still so much

There will be 765 units of the new McLaren in the world. The McLaren 765LT is art for art. If it will be used on racetracks, it is only for pleasure, and then saving a few kilograms does not matter. However, customers of this brand are interested in the latest technologies and will be happy to pay for them. It is a tribute to those who are willing to spend on a car over $299,000

Such a high price also pays for uniqueness. There will be only 765 units of this model in the world.
