The RAF (Royal Air Force) Association has a clear objective: to help sustain a resilient and empowered RAF community, including serving personnel, RAF veterans and their families. Through our sector leading services, we offer friendship to the isolated and lonely, sheltered housing for those who want to remain proudly independent and childcare to serving personnel on RAF stations. We work closely with partner organisations, including other military charities, and have a strong bond with our donors and supporters, giving us the confidence to deliver for our beneficiaries when they need us.
With thousands of members across the UK and further afield, plus hundreds of dedicated employees and volunteers, we have the network and experience needed for a personal one-to-one approach. We work together to make sure no one is ever left behind.
About the team
Whilst the finance team is relatively small, they achieve big things! Previous finance experience in a similar sized organisation (£10m and circa 250 employees) is essential as you will have responsibilities which include processing purchase ledgers, expenses and welfare transactions for the Association and our subsidiary companies. As well as reconciling bank transactions and managing automated and manual payments, you will be assisting with the production of financial and management information for internal and external stakeholders. We take great pride in our timely payments to our suppliers so you will need to have the ability to build good relationships and ensure any disputes or queries are resolved as quickly as possible.
About you
Whilst a finance qualification would be highly desirable, it is not an essential requirement. You will however need to have previous experience in a similar role and have a good understanding of accounting software (we use Sage). A high level of IT proficiency is essential as you will be using various platforms including CRM systems (Salesforce), SharePoint and WAP. You will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines to ensure payments are processed swiftly and accurately. If you are a proactive problem solver and thrive in a busy, yet fun, environment then this role could be a great fit!
It is highly recommended that you read the supporting role profile and person specification prior to applying for the role. This is available to download on our website www.rafa.org.uk
