Best Smartphones 2021
Smartphones are currently enjoying great popularity. No wonder, since it’s hard to imagine the world without them. Many people choose top-shelf models and do not want to waste money on experiments. The new smartphone is to have the highest efficiency and multi-functionality. In addition, it has to look good and be durable.
Before you make a decision, think carefully! The choice is very large between manufacturers and the models themselves. What is worth knowing about them and which are the best?
Cover
In the highest class of smartphones, you are unlikely to meet a plastic cover. Modern models are encased in glass and metal (frame). If you like adventures and you want one of the best smartphones, check if your smartphone’s casing is waterproof. This is a very useful feature. You will not break your phone when you use it in the rain or when it falls into the water. Most of the top models meet the IP68 certification, but not all companies use it yet.
Display
Everyone knows that the best smartphones are also the prettiest smartphones. A large selection makes the client pay a lot of attention to deasing. Top smartphones often have very small frames. Frameless models then have an image of 18: 9, 19: 9, etc. Front cameras are also a very important thing. They are usually placed in notches, but not only. Sometimes you can meet a retractable apart. Thanks to this, the screen can be even larger and the smartphone itself more aesthetic.
There are refresh rates of 90Hz or sometimes even 120Hz. Which makes it very comfortable to use. And a fingerprint reader built into the display. Which is also more convenient and more intuitive than on the button. A good screen is also good resolution. FullHD + should be the standard. You can also notice higher QuadHD + resolution on the market and HDR technology support.
Performance
A good operating system is not enough. The best smartphones ensure smooth operation of extensive applications and more and more graphically demanding mobile games. For Android, 8 GB or 6 GB is the minimum RAM. The device’s internal memory is usually 128 GB. For iOS and the latest iPhones, 4 GB RAM is enough.
Another important, or perhaps the most important element, is the processor. Last year, the Snapdragon 865 was the best, followed by the Kirin 990 5G and the Samsung Exynos 990. Apple used the equally powerful A14 Bionic chip.
Connectivity and battery capacity
The more we use electronics, the faster we run out of battery. Unfortunately, the size of the battery is also often the thickness of the device and its weight. Remember, however, that capacity is not everything. It is often better to choose an energy-efficient smartphone equipped with fast charging technologies. It’s nice if it also has the option of wireless charging. Recently, many top models already have such a function. Sometimes you will also meet models with wireless reverse charging. In this way, your smartphone will charge, for example, your smartwatch or headphones.
Bluetooth and Wifi have been standard smartphone modules for many years. Several versions have been developed over the years. They differ in speed and data transfer capacity. A good smartphone should be equipped with at least Bluetooth 5.0 and Wifi 5. Ideally, it should have Wifi 6 (802.11ax). The latest versions of wifi modules mean not only better speed and stability of the connection, but also energy efficiency! As a result, the battery will last longer.
In addition, the NFC module is a convenient element. It provides contactless payment by phone and easy connectivity of accessories, such as headphones.
Camera
One of the most interesting things when choosing a smartphone is the camera. Ultimately, it is the smartphone that will replace classic cameras one day. Producers compete with each other in the quality of photos and videos. You can see double, triple and even quadruple lenses on the market. It is very important that one of them is wide-angle. It will be useful for taking pictures of landscapes or large objects.
Nowadays, resolution is not the most important thing anymore. When choosing a smartphone, pay attention to OIS (image stabilization), quick focus measurement and the brightness of the lens. Often the city looks much better at night. The best devices should record video in 4K quality at 60 fps and save photos in RAW format.
Best smartphone 2021
Once you know which parameters are important when choosing a smartphone, we can go to specific models. You will see the most interesting ones available at this moment and those that we are looking forward to. If you choose one of the following, you will definitely not be disappointed in the quality of work.
Apple
We’ll start with Apple. As usual, new iPhones appeared last fall. This time in four versions. In addition to the standard version, we also got the iPhone 12 mini versions, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 PRO Max. The devices differ in many ways, but they all have the most important part in common – the processor. A14 Bionic, as one of the leaders, guarantees great performance. Other similarities are the OLED Super Retina XDR screen and 5G connectivity.
iPhone 12 is also a great design. It stands out from the competition. Modeled on the older, iconic 5s version. Of course, available in standard and unusual colors. However, this version lacked a few elements. One of them is the refresh rate higher than 60 Hz. Android competition already uses such solutions. There was also no resignation from the uncomfortable note. The iPhone defends the notch with the very fast Face ID system. Probably these features will be improved in the next, thirteenth version.
Standard iPhone 12
The most frequently chosen version from this series. The aforementioned huge performance and better display than the previous version of the iPhone 11. You will have a hard time scratching it because Apple has installed a new glass called Ceramic Shield. As a result, they radically increased the durability of the iPhone 12. It is 4x more resistant to falls than the older iPhone 11. Additionally, it is equipped with a convenient MagSafe charging. Cameras have also been upgraded. We have two lenses – main and wide-angle. We will notice the differences when we take photos in low light. Iphone 12 is doing much better than its predecessor.
iPhone 12 mini
Do you want a small and compact phone but want to keep advanced features and specs? An iPhone 12 mini would be a good idea! The screen size is only 5.4 inches, but inside we find the same as in the standard version. Another plus of the 12 mini is its price. You can save some money for another investment as it is the cheapest of the series. Still, it has the same camera as the iPhone 12! But it has one major drawback – the battery. With such a small display, the battery lasts just 15 hours of video.
iPhone 12 PRO
If you want to combine a very good quality of use and a reasonable price, the iPhone 12 PRO is the best choice among iPhones 12. It is not too big – it fits perfectly in your hand. The device has an additional third lens and most of the functions that PRO MAX has. An additional telephoto lens enriches the camera with 2x optical zoom, and the Lidar scanner examines the depths of the environment, thanks to which it supports autofocus.
iPhone 12 PRO MAX
The new iPhone 12 PRO MAX is the most extensive model among new Apple devices. Constructed for the most demanding users. It is also the largest iPhone ever made. The device can be operated with a screen size of 6.7 ”! Thanks to this, you can watch your favorite movies and series with great pleasure, as well as surf the Internet very comfortably. The best camera with the largest matrix and better stabilization. iPhone 12 PRO MAX is a showcase for Apple engineers. So if you like big phones and want to take amazingly good photos in all conditions, the iPhone 12 PRO MAX is just for you.
iPhone 11
If you are not interested in new products and do not want to spend too much, it is worth considering the iPhone 11. It is not the best model, but still very good. By far the cheapest of the 11 series, but still has an A13 Bionic processor. As a result, it ensures high efficiency and effectiveness. The smartphone has a very bright 6.1-inch screen, and another advantage is the camera and its two lenses. The standard and ultra-wide angle both take great quality photos together. The iPhone 11 also has a very good battery and a waterproof (IP68 standard) case.
iPhone 11 PRO has the same performance as the standard version. This one, however, fares better in terms of battery, case – lighter and better in the hand, better OLED screen and a camera with an additional telephoto lens. The lens increases photographic possibilities, especially in macro or portrait photos. The iPhone 11 Pro Max differs from the previous model mainly in size. The display size is 6.5 inches and the resolution is 2688×1242! A large screen also consumes a lot of energy. Fortunately, the smartphone has an enhanced 4000 mAh battery. So if you need a large workspace, you’ll be satisfied.

Samsung Galaxy S21 / Samsung Galaxy S21 + / Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
Samsung presented its flagship model in three standard versions: Samsung Galaxy S 21, Galaxy S21 +, Galaxy S21 Ultra. Their design differs from the previous models from the Galaxy S family. They were distinguished by two-color back panels that perfectly protect against fingerprints. The previous camera is now … a peninsula – the aluminum frame flows directly into the camera in the upper left corner.
The model is equipped with a screen with a 2x Dynamic Super AMOLED matrix, which guarantees clear colors and a smooth screen. With a refresh rate of 120 Hz, the model is an ideal smartphone for gaming and watching movies. Smartphones are equipped with an 8-core Exynos 2100 processor. The processor supports 8 GB of RAM. Wondering which of the newest flagships to choose?
There are many differences between them other than size. The phones from the Galaxy S21 series differ in the diagonal of the screen, the amount of RAM, the battery capacity, the set of cameras and, of course, the price. Below you will find the most important functions and the differences between them.

The Galaxy S 21+ has a built-in UWB chip, the latest wireless standard that will replace the NFC technology.Other parameters, i.e. the amount of RAM (8 GB), the processor (Exynos 2100), the amount of data space (128 and 256 GB), and the camera set is identical.
The smartphone is available in three colors: black, purple and silver.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra – a smartphone for demanding customers
As every year, Samsung has prepared a version for the most demanding customers. Of course, this means a much higher price. LG V60 ThinQ 5G- the best music smartphone
The LG V60 has several premium smartphones, but there is only one king! The LG V60 ThinkQ 5G offers a brilliant music background and a few flavors that other phones do not have.
A really big smartphone
The LG flagship is distinguished by its solid construction compared to other high-end smartphones. It is really big, it results from the use of a 6.8-inch P-OLED flat screen. The size can be a big difficulty in use for some users. LG V60 sizes work well when watching movies in full screen and while playing, when we can get the impression of gameplay on a portable console. A huge matrix could be a good field for high resolution. Unfortunately, The flagship supports content in a maximum quality of Full HD + (2460 × 1080), which loses to most competitors equipped with QHD + matrices.
Fast and efficient
A capacious 5000 mAh battery guarantees long operation of the device. The battery allows you to work, watch movies and play games using the 4G LTE network, through the Efficient, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G processor ensures 5G network support and smooth operation in any application. 8 GB of RAM also helps to maintain many applications and browser tabs.
Great photos and videos, even under water
The smartphone has a very good rear camera consisting of 3 lenses: main 64 Mpix, wide-angle (117 °) 13 Mpix and 0.3 Mpix with TOF. You can take a selfie with a 10 Mpix camera. You can also shoot amazing 8K videos. The LG V60 meets the MIL-STD810G standard, so you can take photos underwater with your smartphone.
High-class sound
Clear, clear sound during your favorite entertainment is provided by the Hi-Fi Quad DAC system. Thanks to it, a movie, game or played track will provide you with an amazing audio experience. The phone also has 4 microphones.
LG V60 ThinQ 5G is one of the last smartphones of the Korean company LG. The company gives up the production of smartphones due to the growing competition on the market.
Huawei Mate 40 Pro
American restrictions are increasingly taking their toll on Huawei and strongly affect the availability of models from the Mate 40 series. Only Mate 40 Pro will appear in Europe, with limited availability in addition. Classic Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro + and Mate 40 RS are not available in regular offers. The sale of the Mate 40 Pro itself is necessarily low, which does not mean that there are no buyers for a smartphone. They are few, but each Mate 40 Pro has its owner.
The premium class and flagship design constantly attract enthusiasts of high-end devices, just as local beer houses attract gourmets of alcohol made on the spot. The glass front and back set the tone for the whole structure, and the discreet metal frame holds them together and is for her what icing flowers on a cake are for a confectioner.
The round island with cameras makes the biggest and the best impression on me. These no longer nest within the circle, but, like an archipelago, have taken the outskirts, leaving the center free. Awesome!
I use Mate 40 Pro comfortably. It fits easily in my rake and when I use it with one hand, I reach 2/3 of the display with my thumb. With a little effort, but still. These rounded edges of the screen look nice.
Specification:
- Size. 6.76 “
- HUAWEI Kirin 9000
- EMUI 11.0 (Android 10)
- 8 GB RAM + 256 GB ROM
- Front camera. 13 MP Ultra Vision Selfie Camera (Wide Angle, f / 2.4) 3D Depth Sensing Camera
- 4 400 mAh
Biometric security
- fingerprint scanner, integrated with the screen,
- face recognition.
I used both of them in turns. At first, I preferred the fingerprint because it gives me control over locking my smartphone. When the snow fell and I put on my gloves, I became convinced of the face recognition (it also works in the dark).
4 Leica cameras on the back
- main camera 50 Mpix – Ultra Vision, f / 1.9, 5x optical zoom, 50x digital zoom,
- 20 Mpix ultra wide angle camera (he also films) – Cine Ultra Vision, f / 1.8, OIS,
- 12 Mpix tele lens – f / 3.4, OIS.
The fourth eyelet hides the laser AF sensor, which sends a beam into the space that measures the distance, sets the focus, and allows the bokeh effect in portrait mode. In my opinion, the laser works better than the ToF sensor, it is more precise.
So photography enthusiasts – yes, some of them will definitely reach for Mate 40 Pro. Nevertheless, the vast majority will thank you because there are no Google services and no Play Store. Although the AppStore is constantly increasing its content, there are banking applications, and Huawei facilitates the download of many applications by installers, for many this form of service is unacceptable.
Mate 40 Pro rating. Is it worth buying?
Let’s assume for a moment that Google services are of marginal importance. Just for a moment. With this state of affairs, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro becomes one of the best, if not the best smartphone on the market. The best in terms of camera and performance. Visually, it also reigns supreme, cutting itself off from the competition’s design in favor of an interesting display of the island with lenses. But Google exists and he doesn’t
It has top-shelf interfaces, a great OLED screen with gesture support, a battery with very fast charging and charging in 2 ways. There is also a reverse charge. The flagship as it looks. Total equipment, perfect for fans of photography and vlogging, also for movies on (and under) water.
The front and rear cameras offer great parameters for filming, and allow for quick editing with effects. Unfortunately. The lack of Google casts a shadow over this candy vision. I know people who don’t do anything about it and are great with HMS, but in the scale of the Polish population they are in the vast minority. Most require Google services and universal application access.
Against this background, the price for Mate 40 Pro seems to be very high, because it is impossible to use all the benefits created by developers on a smartphone. A conscious user will be delighted with the possibilities of Mate 40 Pro and I sincerely recommend the latest Huawei flagship to him.
Motorola Edge 5G – expensive middle class
The rear panel of the device is made of plastic, which imitates glass in a very good way. Motorola decided on a glossy finish, so the smartphone works like a mirror and how it gets dirty from even the slightest touch. Company is adding a silicone case to the set to solve this problem. Motorola, unlike the competition, gave up the camera island, which, according to users’ opinions, blemishes the backs of phones. Instead, the lenses were neatly stacked one above the other.
One of the biggest advantages of Motorola Edge – at least according to the manufacturer – is to be a screen with edges bent at an angle of almost 90 degrees. Thanks to this, you can hardly see the side edges, but does anyone else need a curved screen? The smartphone is equipped with an OLED screen with a diagonal of 6.7 inches. Despite the rather large dimensions, the smartphone fits quite well in the hand due to the rounded front and back of the smartphone.
Motorola Edge is powered by an 8-core Snapdragon 765 processor, powered by 6 GB of RAM with Adreno 620 graphics, it can compete with mid-range smartphones, but not with flagships. What’s more, for the price of Motorola Edge 5G, we can find flagships from 2020 with better components. We have 128 GB of ROM memory available, with the option of additional expansion thanks to a microSD card up to 1 TB.
Motorola Edge tempts with a great battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh, which absolutely does not disappoint. The smartphone lasts effortlessly from morning to evening, without any energy saving.
We can take photos using three cameras. The set includes a main camera with a matrix of 64 MPx. (it’s a pity without OIS), 16 Mpx ultra wide angle lens. with a field of view of 116 degrees and a macro function, 8 Mpx telephoto lens. Daytime photos are good, mainly due to the colors and precise exposure. The detail is disappointing, which is surprising with this size of the matrix. Unfortunately, the Motorola Edge does not look decent in the night photos. A large number of flagships from 2019 are able to generate a better picture than Motorola Edge in such conditions.
If you are a music fan, you will surely like the 3.5 mm mini jack socket, which is less and less common in smartphones. Motorola Edge, like other smartphones from this manufacturer, is only splashproof. Accidental bathing in the bathtub can end your Motorola’s life.

Design, quality of workmanship
Oppo Reno 4 Pro 5G is one of the smaller and lighter smartphones that have recently passed through my hands. As for a 6.5-inch model, it is handy, and thus – using it is not difficult. Thanks to the slim design and the weight of 172 g, the whole thing positively surprises in terms of ergonomics.
On the official website of the product, Oppo was even tempted to say that it is a “galaxy that fits in the palm of your hand”. I do not know how much it was supposed to be Samsung’s nose flap (after all, their smartphones are called “galaxies”), and to what extent it was simply a word game. However, when it came to the former, it is worth mentioning that Samsung also offers a quite interesting model with a screen with the same diagonal – Galaxy S20 FE – to which I am going to compare Reno 4 Pro 5G soon.
On the right side there is a switch, while on the left side – two separate volume control buttons; they are all well felt under the fingers. On the upper edge there is a microphone, on the lower edge – a second microphone, a drawer with two nanoSIM card slots, USB type C and one of the speakers (the other is above the screen). The smartphone meets the basic IP54 resistance standard.
The screen used in the Oppo Reno 4 Pro 5G is curved AMOLED, the diagonal of which is 6.5 “and the resolution – 2400 × 1080 pixels. The display works great both on sunny days and in the evenings / at night, and I want to say that the brightness, both maximum and minimum, is it a very good level (and the light sensor works very well).
Pleasing to the eye
Importantly, the screen refresh is 90 Hz – Oppo did not go crazy with the higher value, explaining that this is optimal for the human eye. The screen refresh rate can be reduced to 60 Hz or left for automatic change. I definitely recommend setting the rigidly 90 Hz and enjoying the benefits of a more pleasant operation of the device. The viewing angles of the screen are excellent, the contrast is very good, as well as the color reproduction – especially perfect black (after all, it’s AMOLED). In the factory, there is a protective foil stuck on the display, which I do not recommend tearing off until she asks for it herself – it works well in its role, taking on all minor scratches.
In the display settings, we can change the mode from light to dark, use the mode called Eye Comfort (blue light filter), set the selected screen color mode (you can choose vivid or delicate – I prefer the first), as well as change the color temperature of the screen. Perhaps the biggest objection to Oppo Reno 4 Pro 5G is that its operation is due to the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with a clock frequency of 2.4 GHz with Adreno 620 instead of the flagship Snadpragon 865 from Adreno 650. Is it really so important, how can it seem?
Taking into account the results achieved by both units in synthetic tests – definitely yes. However, they are not the most important here, but how the smartphone works every day. And the Reno 4 Pro 5G works, quickly and efficiently, which can probably also be seen in the use of 12 GB RAM.
In sum
What can I say. Oppo Reno 4 Pro 5G captivated me from our first meeting – starting from its appearance, through handiness and a great AMOLED screen with 90 Hz refreshing, to sensational fast charging. On the way, I also found great stereo speakers, a fast fingerprint reader and face recognition, as well as a lot of memory, as much as 256 GB.
