A real volcano on wheels

Aston Martin has joined the series of the most powerful and hardcore cars that are scary to release on the roads, who in his typical, outsider way neglected the advantages of a centrally located engine, such as in the Ferrari FXX K, Pagani Zonda R, Lamborghini Veneno or the McLaren P1 GTR.

Untamed and forbidden

Why forbidden? It’s simple – probably the owners of this car will not be able to drive it freely on public roads, which may seem like a big inconvenience. Why have a car that cannot be driven? Well, you can, but under the right conditions.

When you buy an Aston Martin Vulcan, you get more than the car. It is a kind of introduction to a very limited world. Limited to 24 copies. The lucky owner will get a special invitation from time to time. Then he will be able to learn his car, drive it, race it, etc. Similar “privileges” have Ferrari FXX owners. Anyway, let’s move on to our main character.

At first glance, the Aston Martin Vulcan looks like a car that feels best on the track. Very aggressive styling, numerous aerodynamic additions, side exhaust, huge adjustable wing, powerful diffuser, etc. All in all, it’s hard to find clear references to the Aston Martin, as the lines of the car have been shaped to have the greatest aerodynamic properties. The brakes are also noteworthy – huge carbon-ceramic discs with a diameter of 380 mm at the front and 360 mm at the rear.

Unlimited power not for everyone

A naturally aspirated 7-liter V12 engine with more than 800 hp was assigned to the drive. Unfortunately, Aston Martin does not provide specific technical data, although it is known that the drive goes to the wheels via a 6-speed sequential gearbox. The Aston Martin Vulcan is said to have a power-to-weight ratio better than most GTE cars in the FIA World Endurance Championship series. It is worth mentioning the adjustable suspension, adaptive traction control, ABS with many settings, etc.

Production will be limited to 24 copies, which will be “loaned” to the owners. Interestingly, the owners will be able to drive other iconic Aston Martin models, including V12 Vantage S, One-77 or Vantage GT4.

ISTANBUL, TURKEY – APRIL 22, 2017: Aston Martin Vulcan on display at Autoshow Istanbul

An Aston Martin Vulcan was made road-legal by British engineering company RML Group through a series of modifications. This car remains the only Vulcan to be made legal for the road. Several changes had to be performed in order to meet road regulations. The group took 18 months to modify the entire car.

The ride height of the car is raised for ground clearance. The rear LED “blades” are covered with a plastic light housing for radius management. Two front integrated headlights have been added, under the inspiration of the modern Aston Martin design. The styling of the lights mimic the factory lights of the Vulcan. As for the front splitter, the car’s fences, placed on the side of the aerodynamic piece for more downforce, have been removed, and the length of the carbon fibre splitter has also been shortened.

Only for connoisseurs with a thick wallet

The Vulcan was designed by Aston Martin’s creative officer Marek Reichman, taking inspiration from the then Aston Martin current models, such as the Vantage, the DB9 and the One-77. Production totalled 24 cars, with each priced at US$2.3 million.
