Bugatti Divo – a new challenge
Bugatti is a brand associated with amazing cars, famous for their cosmic speed and the way they achieve it on a straight road. It’s time, however, to finally conquer the winding episodes, the new Divo was created for this.
Modern classic
The new Bugatti, presented at the occasion of The Quail, surprises with its appearance. Many announcements have already suggested that we will have a track-oriented car, but we could expect something very similar to the Vision Gran Turismo concept model. The Divo is not a copy of the Chiron at all – at first glance you can see a completely different front with a huge “mouth” and a new design of LED headlamps, quite “scattered” to the sides. There is also no doubt immediately what dictated the design – this air. Hence the huge openings in the front bumper, the unusual sculpting of the bonnet, and the much larger number of small ailerons, fins and other elements used to direct the air stream. It is worth noting, however, that the elements characteristic of the Bugatti, such as the horseshoe-shaped grill and prominent “gills” on the sides, have remained.
What’s in the back?
The back is also a topic for a separate dissertation. While Chiron showed a rather uncompromising approach to creating this part of the body, here the form clearly succumbs to function. Here, in fact, the least feel that we are dealing with a Bugatti – the way different layers of aerodynamic elements overlap each other resembles racing cars, or Lamborghini or Koenigsegg constructions. The hallmark will surely be the “sea” of rear lamps shredded with an air outlet grille, but also the quadruple central exhaust.
The interior of the Divo is also not as luxurious as in the Chiron, but it’s a Bugatti – don’t expect exposed metal or fabric loops instead of handles. The cockpit was almost entirely taken over from the brand’s flagship model, only the upholstery was changed (a lot of blue inserts), and the seats were finished with a slightly more racing Alcantara instead of thick, plump leather.
A monster with a power of 1500 hp
The engine has not changed either. Behind the driver’s back is the same 8-liter, sixteen-cylinder monster with a capacity of 1500 HP. We probably won’t complain about the lack of power, right? Strong numbers have always been the domain of Bugatti and it will be no different – we still need 2.5 seconds to sprint to the hundredth, but the Divo will stop accelerating faster than Chiron. The top speed here will be “only” 240 mph. It’s all because of a very extensive aerodynamics, which is to help us keep this car in check on a winding road.
Suffice it to mention that the rear wing itself measures 5ft in length, and the downforce generated by all body elements is 456 kilograms. It is 90 more than in the Chiron. Bugatti also took a minor slimming treatment, but it wasn’t too drastic a diet – the Divo only weighs 77lb less. It is only less about a few unnecessary compartments, soundproofing, a less extensive audio system and jewelry made of carbon fiber. More work was devoted to what can be seen not from catalogs, but simply from behind the steering wheel. The new Bugatti has a much stiffer suspension – work has been done on shock absorbers, springs, and the angle of inclination of the wheels has also changed.
Light and agile as a predator

Rare species for “the chosen ones”
Nardo track gives 8 seconds of advantage in one lap over the Chiron, but somehow we do not expect Bugatti to threaten the Nurburgring North Loop record. Rather, it’s another toy for the rich, very, very rich. To enjoy the hyperautomotive designed for driving on winding roads, you have to pay 5 million euros for one of the 40 copies in production. Twice the price for a car eight times rarer than the Chiron. No brand customer will think twice.
